When someone is struggling, they oftentimes don’t know exactly what they are feeling. In other words, they know they aren’t feeling good, but “it” can’t be described. I, too, have had these feelings. My friends and family would ask me what was wrong, and I would say, “I don’t know. I just don’t feel right. It’s scaring me.” It truly is terrifying and, since it’s not easily described, it becomes even scarier. Even now, as I write, I’m having a hard time explaining it. But, with the help of this poem I wrote, I think that many of you will begin to understand.

“It creeps up on you morning and night.
You have tried to ignore it, but it’s putting up a fight.
You cry and you shake.
But you force a smile, make no mistake.
It sometimes stops, and you feel relieved.
But then it comes back again at a time not perceived.
You ask it why it is here?
You tell it to leave.
But now it has made its way into your dreams.
You wake up in sweats, and you can’t help but regret.
Your entire existence.
It has taken over, but you try to pull through.
It has you in its claws and you ask why it summoned you?
You tell your friends, but they say it will leave.
You scream it is here, even though you can’t see.
It returns more often than not.
You wonder if it is trying to make you just end it all.
But you don’t… please don’t.
Please push through.
You are stronger.
You will beat it with flying colors.”
