Most of us use social media every day. And when we do, it doesn’t take long to find yourself bombarded with information, opinions, and photos of what somebody had for lunch. While social media is a great way to keep in touch with friends and family, when used too much it can actually distract us from truly forming connections with others and ourselves. It’s easy to get so caught up in somebody else’s life that we forget to live our own. We walk away from our phone or computer feeling drained and uninspired.
That’s why I suggest taking one day out of the week to fast from social media.
For me, it’s Sunday. I like to start out my week by doing things that make me feel good. I give myself time to read, write, go out with friends, or anything else that has me engaged in the real world. By the end of the day, I feel refreshed and ready to take on the week.
There is so much life to live, so many adventures to be had, and we can’t live fully if we are constantly checking in on what everybody else is doing. Try it for one day: put down the phone, close the laptop, and have some real fun! Have a conversation with your voice. Pick up a pen and write something by hand. Go for a walk and take in the beauty around you. Turn on the radio and go for a drive, maybe somewhere you’ve never been before. Explore. Learn. Grow.
As children, we did it every day without a second thought. We went outside to get our hands dirty. We made friends. We spent time with family. Surely we have time to spend one day out of the week connecting with the world – and I don’t mean via wi-fi.
When you connect with someone human to human, or with yourself, I guarantee you’ll walk away feeling a deep satisfaction and nourishment that your gadgets can’t give you.

Tech giants like Google, Amazon, and Facebook are shaping the future of work. These companies are developing new technologies and business models that are changing the way we work.
For example, Google is developing new ways to collaborate and communicate remotely. Amazon is developing new ways to automate tasks. And Facebook is developing new ways to connect with customers.
The changes that tech giants are making to the workplace are not without their challenges. For example, some people are concerned about the loss of jobs due to automation. However, the potential benefits of these changes are also significant.
